Lena Georgia Cooper went to cosmetology school at the renown Pivot Point Academy, and has over 30 years of experience in the industry. Being at the forefront of innovative beauty trends is a priority for Lena, leading her to continually seek opportunities to learn new skills and create new looks. Lena also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies.
Lena opened her first salon in Chicago, IL in 2003, expanding to a full service salon in 2008. In 2011 on a road trip to Duluth, Minnesota, she realized the need for a salon that specializes in all hair types – she packed her things and opened Duluth’s first salon with a specializing in ethnic hair types and bi-racial mixed texture hair issues.
Lena was a platform artist for the Vitale Cosmetics, Proud Lady Hair Show, and sought after by Aveda. Celebrities have sat in her chair – like Jennifer Hudson and Emily Mortimer.
The Duluth salon features a chic, eclectic décor, with big windows and a good atmosphere, “inspiring my best work”, says Lena, who designed the salon.
Lena’s salon specializes natural, mixed textured hair silkening. Salon also features a barber shop, sells wigs, and can do weaves, hair extensions, and chemical relaxers. In the future, Lena sees herself owning a cosmetology school.
Lena’s downtown salon is downtown next door to Starbucks, in a safe, secure, clean and classy building, next to the Maurices building on 4th Avenue West. Parking is located across the street and on the street.
